Recently, Brazil launched its first 100% domestically produced single-dose dengue vaccine, developed in partnership between the Butantan Institute and the Chinese company WuXi Biologics, under the Local Development and Innovation Program (PDIL) of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

According to the Brazilian government, starting in 2026, the government plans to provide 60 million doses of the vaccine to the Brazilian health systems, with the possibility of increasing supply based on demand and production capacity.

Thanks to the cooperation between the Brazilian institute and the Chinese company, the production and supply capacity of the 100% domestically produced vaccine is expected to increase by 50 times. The project has already been approved and is in the final stage of technological development.

WuXi Biologics, headquartered in Wuxi, China, was founded in 2010 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2017.
