On 18 February, the mayor of São Cristóvão, Júlio Nascimento, received a visit from the Centre for Economic and Social Development (NDES), accompanied by representatives of the Brazil-China Chamber for Economic Development (CBCDE), who brought Chinese investors.

The meeting between the city administration and the oriental businesspeople took place at the city hall office and covered topics such as modernising sustainable energy sources, digitising and systematising production and organisational processes, as well as possible investments in the city's tourism and cultural projects.

‘We have many opportunities for investors, such as in the mineral water industry, the logistics sector, hotels and solar energy, among other promising areas. These investments can generate more income and jobs for the population. This visit shows that we are on the right track and that our management has aroused the interest of national and international investors,’ said Josenito Oliveira, Municipal Secretary for Economic Development and Labour.
