China signed an agreement with Cape Verde to support the archipelago with 26.3 million euros for security, renewable energy, digital economy, tourism and infrastructure projects, strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Cape Verde, Shi Leike, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Cape Verde, Myrian Vieira. Shi Leike recalled his long-standing friendship with China. Last year, bilateral relations between China and Cape Verde were elevated to a strategic partnership.

Myrian Vieira stated that the amount will support the continuity of the third phase of the “safe city” project, which is a priority for Cape Verde, as it aims to reinforce the country's internal security with the updating and expansion of the video monitoring system in seven cities.

China is an important strategic partner in education, health, agriculture, new information and communication technologies and renewable energy. Cape Verde wants to take these relations to ever higher levels of excellence.
