On November 27, the University of Brasilia (UnB) launched the Brazil-China Center for Research, Development and Promotion of Technology and Mechanization for Family Farming, in the presence of China's Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng. The cooperation agreement was signed between UnB and China Agricultural University (CAU).
The center will work to apply the Chinese experience in mechanizing family farming in Brazil, with tests of 70 machines and equipment at UnB and in settlements of the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST) in the Federal District.
In addition to using the Chinese machines in the Brazilian countryside, the center's aim is to produce agricultural machines in Brazil in the future that are geared towards family production.
