On November 22, the state government of Ceará and CGN Brasil Energia (CGNBE) of the Chinese group CGN, signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint development of the state’s solar, wind and green hydrogen energy projects The signing aims to strengthen renewable energy production in Ceará.
The agreement provides for the implementation of a 1,000 MW offshore wind project, which will be located in the coastal region of Ceará. The correlational research will begin at the end of this year. A solar and wind project will also be developed in the state with an installed capacity of up to 400 MW. Besides, the CGNBE is also planning to set up a pilot green hydrogen plant in line with global clean energy trends.
The governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas, stressed the importance of this partnership between Brazil and China, saying that this memorandum is fundamental to consolidating Ceará as a clean energy production hub.
