With the increase in demand for electric cars, the Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD plans to expand its facility in the Camaçari Industrial Complex, in Bahia.

BYD began its operations in Camaçari in March 2024, after acquiring the infrastructure of the North American automaker Ford in the Industrial Complex. Initially, the company planned to invest R$5.5 billion in a 330,000m2 complex. Due to the increase in sales and imports, the company plans to expand its factory and invest more in Brazil.

The State Secretary of Economic Development (SDE), Angelo Almeida (PSB) stated that the expectation is that cars produced in Bahia will be available on the market next year.
