August is the month of culture on the island of Príncipe. On August 13, the date set aside by the authorities of Príncipe to celebrate Chinese culture, the President of the Republic Carlos Vila Nova and the Chinese Ambassador, Xu Yingzhen, shared the art of tea, highlighting the cultural exchange between China and São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Chinese Ambassador defined the year 2024 as the year of Chinese culture in São Tomé and Príncipe, mentioning activities such as Guqin music, the martial art of Taijiquan, and Chinese cuisine.

As part of the set of cultural activities, the Chinese Embassy in São Tomé and Príncipe also organized a screening of Chinese films on 11 August in cooperation with the authorities of the Autonomous Region of Príncipe.
