On July 22, FAPESP welcomed a delegation from the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, China. The meeting is one of the developments of FAPESP Week China, held in July.

The Chinese delegation was headed by Gong Guoping, head of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. In his speech, he highlighted the province's economic strength. According to the secretary, the region also leads in terms of the number of researchers, valid invention patents and high-tech companies, including Huawei, Tencent, BYD, Midea and Gree.

“Brazil is well-established in many sectors, so it is our pleasure to establish connections with the country,” he added.
