Recently, during the visit of a Brazilian delegation to China, the sending of peeled pecans was approved. However, it is still necessary to formalize an agreement that meets Chinese specifications before exports can begin.
The Brazilian Pecan Farming Institute (IBPecan) participated in the meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), where the phytosanitary requirements of the new commercial partner were addressed.
“The Chinese seek safe, high-quality products, such as dried pecans, free from insects and well packaged,” said Eduardo Basso, president of IBPecan. So that Brazilian producers need to ensure that their pecans meet food security demands.
Basso believes that the health agreement will not only allow exports of shelled nuts to begin but will also pave the way for the future sale of shelled nuts.
