In the recent past, many patients have been faced with the postponement and even suspension of surgeries due to a lack of anesthesia. It is in this scenario that the Minister of Health, Ângela Costa, received a donation of medicines and hospital equipment for 90 thousand euros from Chinese ambassador Xu Yingzhen.
China's donation to the Ministry of Health includes surgical materials such as anesthetics and surgical blades. Other equipment, such as electronic sphygmomanometers, ultrasonic atomizations, blood glucose meters and sterilizers were delivered to the Ministry of Health.
"The health sector is always a priority field of cooperation between China and São Tomé and Príncipe. We want São Tomé and Príncipe to be able to mitigate this situation of shortage of these materials through this donation, stated the Chinese ambassador.
The Minister of Health, Ângela Costa, considered it a priority for the government to supply the national health system with medicines offered by China. It will also help professionals in supporting the diagnosis of health problems that may arise.
