To stimulate and boost careers in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) is entering into a partnership with China's Huawei, which operates in more than 170 countries and serves more than three billion people worldwide.

The first meeting with representatives of the multinational took place in mid-December, when the rector of UFRJ, Roberto Medronho, and the university's general superintendent of Technology and Information, Ana Maria Ribeiro, received the vice-president of the Enterprise Business Group (EBG), Jianbo Li, and the manager of Talents and Ecosystems, Victor Montenegro, from Huawei do Brasil Telecomunicações Ltda.

In June last year, the Chinese company signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education (MEC) that provides for the development of talents and digital educational solutions, free of charge, for the federal, state, district and municipal education networks. Huawei offers two solutions on the MECPlace platform for educational institutions to join: ICT Academy and StorySign.
