This Wednesday, the 6th of December, at 11:00, the first commercial trip of one of the 18 new units of the Porto Metro, manufactured by the Chinese CRRC Tangshan, will take place, as can be read in a note on the 5th of December sent by Metro do Porto. The inaugural route will take place between the Trindade and Casa da Música stations and will be attended by the Prime Minister, António Costa.

According to Metro do Porto, of the batch of 18 trains that will expand the Metro fleet from 102 to 120 units, 15 are already in Porto, with the remaining three arriving by the end of this year.

The new vehicles have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and capacity for 244 passengers, with 64 seats.

The contract signed with Metro do Porto in January 2020 includes maintenance services for five years in addition to 18 vehicles, said CRRC Tangshan.
