On the 28th of November, the acting governor of Paraná, Darci Piana, received a delegation from Merchants Port, the Chinese group that controls the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP), at the Iguaçu Palace. He presented the New Ferroeste and the Paranaguá Port Access Channel concession plan, two infrastructure projects.

Nova Ferroeste will be 1,567 kilometres long, linking the municipality of Maracaju, in Mato Grosso do Sul, to the Port of Paranaguá. The railway will also have a branch line between Foz do Iguaçu and Cascavel and between Chapecó (SC) and Cascavel.

The concession for the Paranaguá Port Access Channel is also a first for the state. The concession will cover the expansion, maintenance and operation of the access channel for a period of 25 years.
