Angolan state oil company Sonangol signed on October 20th with the Chinese company CNCEC the contract for the construction of the Lobito Refinery in the province of Benguela, a global investment valued at 6 billion dollars.
Sonangol signed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract with the Chinese company China National Chemical Engineering (CNCEC), the Project Construction Supervision contract with the American company KBR, and the Technical Support Consulting Services contract with the Angolan company DAR.
Speaking to the press, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, considered the Lobito Refinery, which will have a processing capacity of 200 thousand barrels per day, a “strategic project” for the country and the region.
