Brazilian leather was on show at 36 stands at the Asia Pacific Leather Fair in Hong Kong last week, according to the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brazil.
Apex-Brazil issued a written statement quoting Rogério Cunha, an official of the business association representing Brazilian tanners, as saying the main purpose of the exhibitors of Brazilian leather was to make contacts in Greater China.
Mr Cunha said: “The prospects in China, the main market for leather, remain uncertain, despite some measures by the Chinese government to stimulate the economy.”
The exhibitors of Brazilian leather were backed by Brazilian Leather, a joint endeavour by Apex-Brazil and Mr Cunha’s association to promote abroad the products of Brazilian tanners.
