The Chinese Embassy in Guinea Bissau says Ambassador Jin Hongjun and ministers of his host country have met to discuss co-operation in public health and defence.

The embassy issued written statements saying Mr Jin had separate meetings with Minister of Public Health, Family and Social Cohesion Maria Inácia Có Sanhá and with Minister of National Defence Eduardo Costa Sanhá.

The ambassador said in both meetings that China attached great importance to the development of its traditional friendship with Guinea Bissau, and was willing to improve communications between the countries to develop the relationship.

The Chinese Embassy quotes each minister as expressing gratitude for the help China has given their country over the years, and willingness to strengthen Sino-Guinea Bissau ties.
