China has donated equipment and supplies worth about US$790,000 to the General Hospital of Luanda, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency says the donation, including supplies such as surgical gowns and gloves, and syringes, was presented by Chinese Ambassador to Angola Cui Aimin and accepted by Angolan Secretary of State for International Co-operation and Communities Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes.

The hospital, built in 2006, has over 300 beds and is capable of attending to 800 patients a day, Angop says.

In another report, the newspaper Jornal de Angola quotes Mr Vieira Lopes as saying the Chinese gift may improve the service given by the hospital.
