President Xi Jinping of China has told President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil that China is ready to import from Brazil more goods with greater added value, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Xi as telling Mr Bolsonaro in Beijing about his hopes for the Sino-Brazilian relationship, saying in particular China is amenable to greater cooperation with Brazil in agriculture, energy, mining, the aerospace industry and the infrastructure construction business.

Mr Xi called for more collaboration in scientific innovation and economic applications of digital technology.

And he called for more contact between ordinary Chinese and Brazilians, especially on the football pitch and in the practice of Chinese traditional medicine.

The report quotes Mr Bolsonaro as saying Brazil will open its doors to Chinese investment in the construction of infrastructure and the exploitation of oil and gas.

Brazil also welcomes more Chinese tourists, who require no entry visa, Xinhua quotes Mr Bolsonaro as saying.
