Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian says his government has given the country 7,000 tonnes of rice to help feed Mozambicans whose lives have been disrupted by floods since October, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Su as saying the gift is evidence of the Chinese vision of building a community with a shared destiny for China and its partners.
The report quotes a Mozambican official, António Tchamo, as saying the rice will “ensure help for the families affected by natural disasters, thus minimising their suffering”.
Seasonal floods in Mozambique have worsened in the past two weeks, Lusa says.
