Confucius Institute opens teaching facility in Oporto

The branch of the Confucius Institute at the University of Minho in Portugal opens today a facility for teaching Chinese language and culture in the northern Portuguese city of Oporto, O Minho reports.

The Portuguese newspaper quotes a written announcement issued by the university as saying the teaching facility will be in the Oporto International School.

The announcement says the school is holding an exhibition of 34 pictures to mark the 70th year since the founding of the  People’s Republic of China.

The University of Minho branch of the Confucius Institute intends to open another teaching facility in northern Portugal, on the Guimarães campus of the university, further pioneering the teaching of Mandarin Chinese in institutions of education run by the Portuguese government, the announcement says.
