Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd Managing Director Kent Wong has said his Hong Kong chain of jewellers may obtain precious stones from the Portuguese-speaking world through the Macau-China Diamond and Gem Exchange, the Macau News Agency (MNA) reports.

The news agency quotes Mr Wong as saying so on the occasion of the delivery to the exchange of over 600 carats of Russian diamonds worth US$284,000, its first batch of rough diamonds certified under the Kimberley Process.

The report says Chow Tai Fook is one of eight companies licensed by Macau Economic Services, an arm of the Macao government, to deal in rough diamonds.

Chow Tai Fook obtains only a small fraction of its rough diamonds from lusophone countries, MNA says.
