China is expected to buy 5 million tonnes of soybeans from Brazil in the fourth quarter of this year, double the amount it bought a year earlier, Reuters reports.

The news agency says fourth-quarter exports of Brazilian soybeans to China averaged 3.53 million tonnes from 2010 to 2016.

The report quotes traders and analysts as saying Brazilian soybeans are competitively priced and usually yield superior amounts of meal and oil.

The latest Brazilian crop of soybeans was 114.1 million tonnes, the most ever, Reuters says.
