Cape Verdean Minister of the Economy and Employment José da Silva Gonçalves is visiting China to attend the annual meeting of the UN World Tourism Organisation and to meet Chinese officials, A Semana reports.
The Cape Verdean newspaper says that at the WTO meeting, being held in the southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan, Mr Gonçalves will argue the case for Cape Verde to be given a seat on the executive board of the WTO.
The report says the minister will also attend a conference on the development of islands to be held in the southern Chinese province Fujian.
Mr Gonçalves is due to meet representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and one of the matters they will discuss is a maritime special economic zone in the waters off the Cape Verdean island of São Vicente, A Semana says.
