Chinese provinces could enhance their co-operation with Fogo Island, says Chinese Ambassador to Cape Verde Du Xiaocong.

The Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress reported Mr Du toured the island last week and met with civic leaders.

Mr Du says the island enjoys advantages in the tourism sector and any co-operation effort could start there.

Mr Jorge Nogueira, the mayor of São Filipe, a town and regional government, said cooperation in tourism, agriculture, and particularly the fruit and food processing industry were opportunities to build relationships.
