The cities of Sorocaba and Xiamen, in China, are now officially recognized as sister cities, being able to exchange scientific, social, environmental, cultural, sporting and commercial programs.

This is what is established by Law No. 12.872, of August 30, 2023, authored by councilor João Donizeti and published in the Jornal do Município. São Paulo and Fortaleza are already sister cities of Xiamen, and Sorocaba is currently working on numerous projects in the area of technology and trade with representatives from the Chinese city.

João Donizeti said that from a legal point of view, the brotherhood agreements represent a formal and legal basis for establishing possible technical cooperation agreements, exchange programs and economic development.
