Portugal’s unemployment rate stood at 12.4 percent in November 2015, remaining unchanged from the previous month, the European nation’s statistics bureau announced this week.
Official provisional estimates revealed by Statistics Portugal showed the country had in November an unemployed population of 636,900 people: 3,000 more than in October.
“The youth unemployment rate stood at 33.4 percent [in November], having increased by 1.0 percentage point from the previous month,” the statistics bureau added in a statement.
The unemployment rate in the eurozone fell in November 2015 to 10.5 percent, its lowest level since October 2011, the European Commission’s statistics bureau Eurostat announced on Thursday. Portugal’s unemployment rate in November was the fifth highest among the eurozone member states, according to Eurostat.
