Portuguese-speaking countries exports to Macao rise 46.9%

Last year, the value exported by the Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese semi-autonomous region was 1.06 billion patacas, a rise of 46.9 percent compared to 2021, according to the latest data of the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) of Macao. The amount of goods imported from Macao by the Portuguese-speaking bloc fell 73.4% year-on-year to 1.7 million patacas.

In 2022, the value of goods exported rose 4.3% year-on-year to a total of 13.52 billion patacas, while the value of goods imported was 139.81 billion patacas, down 9.1% year-on-year. Macao trade deficit last year stood at 126.29 billion patacas, down 14.62 billion patacas compared to the 140.91 billion patacas of 2021.

The total value of foreign trade in goods in 2022 was 153.3 billion patacas and down 8.1 percent from 166.8 billion patacas in 2021, DSEC added.
