The reconstruction of an 800-kilometre railway in Angola by China Hyway Group has been provisionally completed and the project delivered on Friday to the Angolan Government, the country’s news agency Angop reported.

Since work started in 2006, China Hyway has built 56 stations along a railway line linking the southwestern coastal city Namibe to the eastern province Kuando Kubango.

Wei Ruihai, Director-General of China Hyway, said at a ceremony last week in Huila province that the railway would promote the development of transport and logistics businesses along the route, as well as agriculture and general economic growth in the region.

The 56 stations include what the report referred to as three special stations, seven first-class stations, 11 second-class stations and 35 third-class stations.
