China’s Cofco is interested in expanding its trade relationship with Brazil focused on the low carbon economy, the Agriculture Ministry said on the 24th of March, after its delegation met with the company in Beijing.
According to the folder, with the focus on the new ABC program, which will have differentiated credit lines and more attractive interest rates for producers that invest in socio-environmental practices, Brazil could count on more investments from the Chinese group, including for a private partnership, aimed at recovering degraded pastures.
Given the proposal presented, Cofco will organize a mission to visit Brazil soon and continue negotiations, the ministry said.
In Brazil, the operations of the Chinese agribusiness company accounted for exports of 33 million tons of products, with the company ranking fifth in corn exports, sixth in soybeans and seventh in sugar.
