Brazilian internet service provider Unifique hired China’s Zhongxing Telecom Equipment (ZTE) as supplier for its 5G network in the south of the country. ZTE is a Chinese telecommunications company that manufactures and services networking solutions and mobile devices worldwide.
Based in Santa Catarina, Unifique entered the mobile market by acquiring in the November 2021 spectrum auction a regional license in the 3.5GHz band to offer 5G in the southern states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
Unifique has as obligation assumed in the tender to cover localities with up to 30,000 residents with a 5G signal by the end of 2029. The requirement involves 421 localities in Rio Grande do Sul and 247 in Santa Catarina.
