Zhao Bentang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal, accompanied by Xia Xiaoling, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Embassy, Bernardo Mendia, Secretary General of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry and President of Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited Albufeira.

This visit, the first by Zhao Bentang to Albufeira after assuming diplomatic duties in Portugal. The purpose of the visit was to get to know the city better and look for business opportunities, with a view to promoting synergies and carrying forward a beneficial collaboration for both territories.

For the mayor, Albufeira is a city that depends on tourism for more than 90 percent. “We are open to foreign investment and, at the same time, to increasing our exports. The municipality is able to invest in other types of activities, namely in the areas of energy, climate change, technology, issues related to water supply, and is willing to cooperate with China in the areas of science, education, sport and agriculture, among other areas”, he assured.
