Business representatives from several Brazilian states took part in the first phase of the 140th Canton Fair, held from 15 to 19 October in Guangzhou. The delegation also visited Chinese companies to learn about automation, robotics and energy technologies and to seek suppliers and cooperation opportunities, with a view to increasing productivity and reducing costs.

The federations of industries of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba and Pernambuco organised a joint mission to China. The Mato Grosso do Sul delegation brings together 53 businesspeople from the industrial, technology, food, communications and construction sectors. The Paraíba delegation includes representatives of sectors including construction, sugar, metalworking, ceramics, clothing, food and beverages.

The vice-president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Luiz Gonzaga Crosara Júnior, highlighted the speed at which new technologies are incorporated into Chinese industrial products and processes. He argued that Brazilian businesspeople should reflect on how to apply these experiences in their own companies.

The federation reported that the businesspeople expressed interest in industrial automation, electric mobility and energy storage, including industrial inspection robots and automated solar panel cleaning systems.

The president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraíba, Cassiano Pereira, said that closer contact with Chinese companies makes it possible to expand commercial relations, learn about new business models and establish contacts that could generate concrete business for the industry of Paraíba.
