A wheeled humanoid robot developed in China was recently presented at the Telecommunications Research and Development Centre (CPQD), in the Campinas region of the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The Brazilian company AutorIA brought the equipment to the country. Further demonstrations and assessments of possible industrial applications are planned.
The Cruzr S2 model, made by UBTECH Robotics, headquartered in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, can carry out material sorting, parts assembly and load handling tasks. The manufacturer reports that it can turn in corridors 0.8 metres wide and move loads of up to 15 kilograms between floor level and a height of 1.8 metres.
AutorIA noted that the presentation provided an opportunity to discuss integration between people and robots, combining the technology with the knowledge of professionals.
Figures from the International Federation of Robotics show that Brazil installed almost 4,300 new industrial robots in 2025, up 38% on the previous year. The automotive sector received nearly 2,100 units, an increase of 212%.
The Brazilian researcher Flávio Tonidandel, director of Socialdroids Robotics, believes Brazil has opportunities to participate in developing this technology. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with China and of adapting algorithms developed in Brazil to local needs.
