Angola's National Institute of Statistics (INE) announced the latest data for the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. According to the IPCN, the inflation rate in Angola fell to 8.78% in August, representing a slowdown of 0.55 percentage points compared to the previous month and 10.09 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025. Since the start of the IPCN series in 2015, this is the second consecutive time that annual inflation has remained below 10% (in July, inflation stood at 9.33%). According to the IBGE statement, the “food and non-alcoholic beverages” category was the largest contributor to the rise in the general price level, accounting for 6.01 percentage points in August, followed by the “goods and services” category, with 0.43 percentage points, “healthcare” with 0.42 percentage points, and “education” with 0.37 percentage points, respectively. During the period under review, the provinces of Cabinda (11.53%), Malanje (11.25%), and Lunda Sul (10.69%) recorded the largest variations in the general price level; the smallest variations were recorded in Cuanza Norte (5.22%), Huambo (5.85%), and Cunene (6.69%).
