Chinese Ambassador to Cabo Verde, Zhang Yang, paid a courtesy visit last week to Cabo Verde’s Minister of Economy, Trade, Industry and Digital Transition, António Baptista.
Ambassador Zhang Yang said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cabo Verde. Over the past half-century, the two countries have conducted their relations on the basis of mutual respect, achieving fruitful results in co-operation across multiple areas. He expressed the hope that the signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement for Shared Development would serve as an opportunity to promote the development of the China-Cabo Verde Strategic Partnership.
Minister António Baptista said that China is one of Cabo Verde’s most important international partners. The Cabo Verdean side is willing to deepen co-operation with China in various areas, particularly in the economic and trade domains, and promote the implementation of China’s zero-tariff policy for African countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations, in order to continuously enrich the content of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
