The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao hosted on March 28 a meeting between representatives from, respectively, the International Tropical Timber Organization and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization on the one hand, and participants in the 14th Ordinary Meeting of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao on the other. The parties exchanged opinions on development of cooperation in the areas of work covered by the two international organisations.

The 14th Ordinary Meeting of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao took place on March 27.

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen, noted that the meeting on March 28 offered a platform for mutual exchanges between the Participating Countries in Forum Macao and the two invited international organisations. She added the activity aimed to strengthen and diversify trilateral cooperation involving the Participating Countries in Forum Macao, as envisaged in the “Strategic Plan for Economic and Trade Co-operation” signed at the 5th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macao.

During the March 28 meeting, Mr Li Qiang, from the International Tropical Timber Organization, discussed promotion of cooperation in relation to tropical timber. Mr Zhao Jie, from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, gave a presentation on collaboration in industrial development. The parties taking part in the meeting discussed topics related to project development and human resource training in these two areas.
