Representatives from the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), a body also known as Forum Macao, attended the opening ceremony of the 2018 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2018MIECF), held on April 12. The Forum Macao group also visited Forum Macao’s booth at the event.

During the visit, a book presentation ceremony was held at the Forum Macao booth: Ms Isabel Celeste Jorge, a member of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Administration Committee, presented a copy of the dual-language (Chinese and English) publication “The Magic and Enchantment of Bryophytes” to the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen. The book features more than 60 types of bryophytes. It allows readers to enjoy these beautiful life forms through photos, drawings and scientific descriptions.

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao has had a booth at previous editions of MIECF. At this year’s event the booth features photographs, publications, videos and information displayed in digital formats, allowing visitors to learn more about the business and investment environment of each Portuguese-speaking Country, and the development of “green industries” in those places. The Permanent Secretariat has arranged for staff bilingual in Chinese and Portuguese to be at the booth to assist with business exchanges.

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao regularly organises business and governmental delegations featuring representatives from the Participating Countries in Forum Macao and assists them in joining conferences and exhibitions in the field of environmental protection. The aim is to foster exchanges and cooperation between Mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, namely in environmental management, so as to promote development and fully to realise Macao’s role as a commercial and trade cooperation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
