On November 25, a delegation of about 40 teachers and students from the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macau ‘One Belt, One Road’ Research Center of City University of Macau (CityU Macau), led by Ip Kuai Peng, the Pro-Rector of CityU Macau, visited the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) for exchanges and learning. The event was attended by representatives of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, including Ji Xianzheng, the Secretary-General; Li Xiaohui, the Coordinator of the Executive Office; and Teresa Mok, the Coordinator of the Support Office.
Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng welcomed the delegation from CityU Macau and made a brief introduction to Forum Macao and its Permanent Secretariat as well as the respective work and the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting held in the first half of this year. The Secretary-General pointed out that since the establishment of Forum Macao, its Permanent Secretariat has done an array of fruitful works in the areas of trade and investment promotion, human resources training, cultural promotion and exchanges, and international cooperation in public health, giving full play to Macao’s role as a platform for cooperation and exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. He also encouraged the students to put more effort into learning and thinking, take full advantage of the knowledge gained, and thus actively engage in the undertakings of economic cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, contributing to the common development of China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
This was the second visit of the doctoral and master’s degree students of CityU Macau to the Permanent Secretariat since last year. During the meeting, Li Xiaohui, the Coordinator of the Executive Office, introduced the history of Forum Macao, while Teresa Mok, the Coordinator of the Support Office, made a presentation on the cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries within the framework of Forum Macao. The students said that this visit has further deepened their understanding of Forum Macao, Macao’s integration into the national development, and the development of Macao as “One Centre, One Platform and One Base”, which is conducive to improving their academic attainment.
