Permanent Secretariat takes part in the 10th Industrial and Commercial Summit between Jiangsu-Macao-Portuguese-speaking Countries, and thematic briefing on Zhenjiang

Deputy Secretaries-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Mr Ding Tian, and Mr Paulo Espírito Santo, and the representatives of Portuguese-speaking Countries at Forum Macao, took part in the 10th Industrial and Commercial Summit between Jiangsu-Macao-Portuguese-speaking Countries, and a thematic briefing on the city of Zhenjiang, in Jiangsu Province. Both events were held in Macao. 


Other people present included: Jiansgu Province Vice-Governor, Mr Hui Jianlin; Deputy Director-General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), Mr Yao Jian; Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR, Mr Lei Wai Nong; and the Beijing-based Ambassadors and diplomats of Portuguese-speaking Countries.


Mr Ding said in his speech that the Permanent Secretariat was fully committed to promoting Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, and in boosting exchanges and cooperation between the provinces and municipalities of the participant members of Forum Macao. He called on the summit’s participants to make the most of the event, in order to carry out fruitful exchanges and explore jointly fresh opportunities for cooperation between Zhenjiang, Macao, and Portuguese-speaking Countries, while encouraging all sides to promote economic and social development, and achieve mutual benefits. 


Mr Ding said the Permanent Secretariat had been putting effort into promoting the business environments of mainland Chinese provinces and Portuguese-speaking Countries, making the most of Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, by boosting cooperation and the sharing of knowledge, as well as the exploration of joint cooperation opportunities between the two sides. The Permanent Secretariat remains committed to promoting close cooperation with mainland Chinese provinces, including Jiangsu Province, in order to create better conditions for exchanges and to enhance the cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.


During the summit, the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao and the Department of Education of Jiangsu Province signed the “Memorandum on the Jiangsu Province Scholarship Programme for Students from Portuguese-speaking Countries”.
