The Chinese technology company plans to invest 30 million euros in Portugal this year, after growing 16% in sales in the national market by 2024, above the company's global growth.

Xiaomi saw the number of smartphones sold last year increase by 16% in Portugal, while its share of the national market rose to 14%, making the brand the third largest seller, behind Apple and Samsung.

In terms of revenue from non-smartphone devices, there was a 50% increase, due to the “increase in the portfolio” of products, says Tiago Flores, country director of Xiaomi Portugal. In this respect, Flores' vision is to repeat the 50% growth recorded last year by 2025. At stake is a whole range of devices, from tablets, smartwatches and headphones to equipment for consumers' homes, such as televisions, scooters and robot vacuum cleaners.

Xiaomi wants to see an increasing share of revenue from sales of these products in the brand's total turnover, until they reach the figures involved in smartphone sales.
