Chinese company Huaxin Cement has completed the purchase of Embu S.A. Engineering and Commerce, one of the largest quarries in Brazil

The transaction involved the acquisition of four quarries located in the state of São Paulo for US$ 186,000,000.00. Embu S.A has a production capacity of 8.8 million tons of crushed stone and sand, used essentially in civil construction. In 2023, it produced 6.3 million tons and had a net profit of around R$20 million.

Huaxin said the acquisition of Embu is an important step in its geographic diversification strategy. This acquisition represents a further expansion of the company in emerging markets and is a special milestone for developing the construction materials market in Latin America, as it is the first entry of the company and any major Chinese cement company into the Brazilian market.
