A ferro manganese and ferro silicon factory is being built in Angola's Kwanza Norte province. The project is the result of a partnership between the Angola’s MN Kitota and China's ST New Materials Lda and is valued at 250 million US dollars.
In the first phase, it plans to produce the silicon manganese compound, used in the diamond industry and other industrial processes. In addition to silicomanganese (SiMn), ferrosilicon (FeSi) and ferromanganese (FeMn), the plant will also produce fertilizers and cast iron.
The equipment for this initial phase is already being assembled. The Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, said that this project would add value to the minerals explored in the country, especially manganese, iron and quartz.
