On 22 October, the Northern Rio Grande State University (Uern) welcomed an international delegation of researchers from China and Brazil, starting a new phase of the Technological Residency project for the mechanization of family farming in Apodi, Brazil. The initiative, carried out in partnership between Brazil and China, is developed by the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University (CAU), Uern, Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (Ufersa), among others, and brings perspectives for development in innovations and academic exchange.
The project, which began with the installation of machinery on properties in the region of Apodi, aims to improve the productivity and quality of life of small local farmers. Ivone Brilhante, the president of the Rural Workers' Union of Apodi, emphasized the visible advances in improvement of productivity and reduction of labor burden, benefiting from the mechanical equipment.
The professor from the IFRN, Hugo Manso, stressed the importance of the exchange promoted by this project, stating that this pooling of knowledge between two countries enriches Brazilian technical learning and strengthens academic and technical cooperation.
