GAC Motor, a Chinese automaker and one of the largest global automobile and parts manufacturers has just taken the definitive step toward entering the Brazilian market. The company, advised by Demarest Advogados, obtained registration with the São Paulo commercial board and is now talking to local distributors and dealerships.
GAC representatives participated in a meeting between the governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, and businesspeople from Chinese automakers to discuss the installation of a car factory in the state.
On the occasion, the executive from GAC mentioned his interest in Brazil, as it is a large and diversified market. The choice for Amapá would also be aligned with the global climate transition agenda. However, it is uncertain whether the Chinese company will enter the electrified car market as its first focus, as its stock of combustion cars is still relevant.
