The Chinese group CRRC, one of the largest train manufacturers in the world, announced at a meeting of company executives with governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, earlier this week, that it intends to invest in a manufacturing unit for trains in Brazil. And Valinhos, as well as Hortolândia, are the two cities listed to host the factory.
CRRC and the Comporte group are part of the “C2 Mobilidade Sobre Trilhos” consortium, winner of the auction held on February 29, for the implementation and operation of the TIC (Intercidades Train), which will connect Campinas to São Paulo.
The Chinese are already suppliers to CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos), on line 13-Jade, and produce rolling stock for two of Vale's freight railways: EFC (Estrada de Ferro Carajás) and EFVM (Estrada de Ferro Vitória- Mines).
