Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, meets with Brazilian President Lula da Silva in Brasilia on the 22nd of September 2023. At the invitation of the Brazilian government, Li paid an official friendly visit to Brazil from the 18th to 22nd of September .
Li noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and Brazil, adding that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties next year.
The two countries should rely on continued mutual support on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, Li said.
Brazil hopes to promote synergy between its New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) and China's development strategies, in order to promote the sustainable development of both countries, said Lula.
He added that Brazil is ready to strengthen cooperation with China within multilateral mechanisms, in order to jointly face global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change.
