East Timor posted a year-on-year trade drop in August, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported this week.
According to the country’s statistics body, the nation’s exports fell in August to US$1.05 million from US$2.84 million a year before.
China was the third largest seller to East Timor in August, with Chinese sales reaching US$2.96 million.
Official data also showed East Timor’s imports dropped to US$29.4 million in August from US$52.9 million a year before.
Singapore was East Timor’s main supplier in August, with sales reaching US$11.78 million, followed by Indonesia (US$6.11 million).
East Timor mainly exports coffee beans. In August, the United States was the main destination for that product.
