China has undertaken to give Mozambique 5,700 tonnes of rice, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency quotes a written statement issued by the Mozambican government as saying the undertaking is contained in a document signed last week by Mozambican Foreign Minister José Pacheco and Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian.
The statement says “China will provide 5,700 tonnes of rice to strengthen the food security program and provide assistance to victims of natural disasters in the country”.
In the past two years China has given Mozambique 17,000 tonnes of rice.
