Guinea-Bissau’s economy is forecast to grow by between 4.7 percent and 5 percent in 2015, said the Minister of Economy and Finance Geraldo Martins.
“With a good cashew crop and a regular supply of electricity, we can achieve 5-percent growth,” Mr Martins said in a statement.
He added that since the country’s new government took office in July 2014, income from taxes and customs had been higher than forecast.
Mr Martins added that the financial support granted by several international partners is helping Guinea-Bissau to pay its civil servants. Since 2013 many have faced delays in the payment of their salaries and allowances.
