Cape Verde firms post slight business volume increase in 2013

Companies in Cape Verde had a slightly better year in 2013, with revenue going up, said the Chinese Embassy.

Total revenue for firms operating in the African country hit 252.6 billion Cape Verdean Escudos (US$2.73 billion) in 2013, up by 0.7 percent year-on-year. That is according to the results of an annual census on business carried out by the National Institute of Statistics of Cape Verde.

The number of companies operating in Cape Verde however retreated by 1.4 percent from 2012, to 9,049 in 2013.

In 2013, the number of people employed dropped by 0.85 percent to 50,975.
